Join us for a cozy evening of pottery painting, festive treats, and holiday shopping. 

Each person will have the opportunity to paint up to 3 globe tree ornaments. The ornaments are ceramic so they are sturdy and beautiful once painted.  Carmen will provide tips and tricks and one-on-one instruction where desired. She will also bring inspiration images which you can use as a template or you can just improvise and explore your own ideas. 

After the class, Carmen will fire your pieces, and you will be able to pick them up at The Local Hand a couple weeks later.  (We can also ship them to you, or deliver them if you are local!)

Refreshments will be provided. All workshop participants will also receive 10% off any retail purchases they make on the day of the class. 

About your Instructor: Carmen Michel (Carmiclay) is the talented artist behind our wildly popular mugs. Carmen’s pottery is made with the intention for it to be used everyday -- durable, food safe, and made with lead-free glaze. But most importantly, it’s handmade. She “creates families, not clones.” Each piece varies slightly, only adding to their charm.  Carmen lives and works in Worcester, MA.

Welcome December and the holiday season with a little ornament painting on the farm!

Sip on coffee and hot cider, enjoy some fresh baked treats from The Goods Bakery and spend some quality crafting time with others. A most festive way to kick off the season!

Choose a couple of ornaments to paint by the bonfire with Carmen of Carmiclay. She’ll guide you through the process and share her signature Carmiclay color palette with you. Keep it simple or go wild! It is a playful, and meditative activity to harness your inner creative play and creativity.

Classes are typically are 2 hours long. Carmen will take your ornaments back to her studio to fire them in her kiln and will be ready for pickup back at the farm stand in 10-14 days after the event.

Shall we paint some pots together? I am so excited to finally feel ready to open up my studio for you to come paint.

When are we doing this? —->Thursday 9/12/24 6.30-8.30 PM

Here’s the deal: For 2 hours you get to paint pots from my specially sourced bisque collection with glazes that I also put together in a Carmiclay Way: Colorful, playful and well rounded. I have a selection of mugs and plates and bowls, as well as a few vases and a butter dish (my secret fave) for you to choose from.

Realistically you will probably paint 1 piece, maaaayyyybe 2. It takes much longer than you think. :). I will provide you with some inspo, and suggestions / ideas to help you and your ideas come to live. There will also be light refreshments, like seltzer and snacks and some good tunes. If you want to make it extra special you can byob! It will be an intimate setting and so much fun! Come alone or bring a friend it will be great either-way!

After the workshop I will fire the pieces in-house and they will be ready for pick up within 14-ish days of the workshop. For an extra fee I can ship them to you too.

This workshop is great for anyone 15 and older.

My studio is located at 8 Lind St, Oxford, MA there’s plenty of parking and it is right off I-395.

Please note that Workshop Tickets are non-refundable. I need to plan ahead with supplies and stuff so I need to have a headcount. However you can transfer it to another person if you won’t be able to attend.

From empanadas, pizza and pierogi eats to artist studio shops, vintage clothing and a record store.

Make & Mend is a permanent shop at Bow Market. Dealing in second-hand art supplies and nostalgia, as your hosts, we’ll be showering you in creativity and inspiration. Taking up the lobby areas and Comedy studio, vendors will be set up in a typical market style, selling their wares, supplies and whatever else crafty they bring to the show! Joining us are a few local ceramicists selling seconds or not quite perfect pieces, a screen printer, a jam maker and much, much more.

The Canopy Room, which doubles as the Bow Market event space is exquisitely decorated with velvet and everything cozy, will be home for free arts and crafts all day. Collage, painting, knitting and more, try your hand with a little bit of encouragement and maybe a mimosa. This event is completely free to attend and is also handicap accessible.
